Final Paper Prep, Extra Credit Help

For Wednesday, 4/23:

  1. The class will be divided into paper-prep partners (PPPs).
  2. Bring a printed sample citation for a book or journal you are using (or plan to use). Share it with your PPP and have him/her evaluate (1) its format and (2) its suitability for an academic paper. Together with your PPP, mark any corrections/comments on it. You may use online resources to find additional information. Turn it in to Dr. Butler at the end of class.
  3. Explain to your PPP what your paper's topic is and what film you plan to analyze. Based on the research you've done so far (even if you're just getting started now), discuss:
    1. Why you picked this topic and film.
    2. If doing a genre or director, what sort of themes, narrative structures, and sound/image style you've found or are expecting to find. If doing a star, what sort of polysemy you've found or are expecting to find.
  4. Jot down what you've learned from your PPP about his/her topic/film (no more than one paragraph). Turn it in to Dr. Butler at the end of class.

Extra Credit: Due Friday, 4/25
